Trusted Automatic Glass Door Installation in Wollongong
Automatic doors make a real difference for Wollongong businesses that see a steady stream of visitors. Medical and allied health practices around Wollongong Hospital, pharmacies and supermarkets in local centres, offices along Burelli Street and service counters near the University of Wollongong all benefit from hands-free entry. Automatic doors help people with prams, walkers, wheelchairs and shopping bags, keep heated or cooled air inside, and give a professional first impression that suits a growing regional city.
Our commercial glass installation team plans each automatic door around how people move through your entry. We assess the opening, power supply and floor, recommend a sliding or swing configuration, and fit toughened or laminated glass panels to AS 1288. Sensors, safety beams and locking are set up and tested before handover, and we explain everyday operation and night locking to your staff. If your entry needs a new frame or fixed glass around the door, we handle that in the same project.
Our Process for Automatic Glass Doors in Wollongong
Traffic and Access Review
We look at how many people use the entry, who they are and which way they approach, then recommend the right door type.
Power and Structure Check
We confirm there is suitable power and a header strong enough to carry the operator and glass panels.
Safety Set-Up
Motion sensors and safety beams are positioned so the door opens in time and will not close on people or trolleys.
Staff Handover
We demonstrate operating modes, manual release and locking so your team can manage the door confidently.
What an Automatic Glass Door Installation in Wollongong Can Include
Automatic entries can be tailored to the tenancy and the people who use it. A typical package may include:
Automatic Sliding Doors. Single or bi-parting sliders for shopfronts, clinics and building lobbies.
Automatic Swing Doors. Powered swing doors for narrower entries and accessible amenities.
Toughened or Laminated Glass Panels. Safety glass chosen for impact resistance and after-hours security.
Sensors and Safety Beams. Motion detection and presence sensors that keep the entry safe for everyone.
Access Control Integration. Doors linked to keypads, swipe cards or timers for after-hours entry.
Fixed Sidelights and Headers. Glass panels around the door that complete the entry and let in light.
Retrofits to Existing Openings. Conversion of a manual glass entry to automatic operation where the frame suits.
We will recommend the set-up that suits your foot traffic and budget.
Automatic Doors for Wollongong's Hospital, Uni and Retail Foot Traffic
The busiest entries in Wollongong are found around its health, education and retail hubs, and each has different needs.
Healthcare Precinct. Practices near Wollongong Hospital and along Crown Street see many patients with limited mobility, so we set wider openings and gentle closing speeds.
University Area. Offices, food outlets and student services near the University of Wollongong in Gwynneville and Keiraville need doors that cope with long, busy days.
CBD Retail. Tenancies near Wollongong Central and the Crown St Mall benefit from bi-parting sliders that keep customers moving at peak times.
Coastal Corrosion. Salt in the air can affect tracks, rollers and sensor housings, so we specify corrosion-resistant hardware suited to coastal exposure.
Wind-Exposed Entries. Gusty southerlies can trigger sensors with blowing leaves and chill the interior, so we fine-tune detection zones and suggest a vestibule where space allows.
Getting these details right keeps the door reliable and the entry welcoming.
How Much Does Automatic Glass Door Installation Cost in Wollongong?
Automatic doors combine glazing, hardware and electrical work, so each one is quoted to suit the site. Key price drivers include:
| Factor | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Door type | Sliding, bi-parting and swing doors use different operators |
| Opening width and height | Larger openings need heavier glass and stronger drives |
| Glass specification | Toughened or laminated panels and sidelights vary in cost |
| Sensors and access control | Keypads, swipe cards and timers add to the package |
| Power and structural work | New circuits or header reinforcement increase the scope |
After inspecting your entry, we provide a clear written quote.
Automatic Glass Doors for Wollongong and Illawarra Businesses
We install automatic glass doors throughout Wollongong NSW 2500 and the Wollongong City Council area, with regular work for medical centres near Wollongong Hospital, offices on Burelli and Market streets, and retail tenancies close to Wollongong Central. We also service businesses around the University of Wollongong and the Innovation Campus at North Wollongong, as well as trade counters and industrial premises near Port Kembla.
Outside the city, our team installs automatic entries for clinics, pharmacies and supermarkets in Corrimal, Fairy Meadow, Figtree, Warrawong, Dapto and Shellharbour. VV Glass is based in Engadine, about 50 km north of the CBD, and reaches the Illawarra via the Princes Motorway (M1). Because automatic doors also involve electrical connection and NCC access requirements, we coordinate with your electrician or building manager so the entry is ready to use when we finish. For multi-tenant buildings, we can also work with strata managers to schedule installs outside peak hours.
Safety & Compliance
Every shopfront installation is completed to Australian Standards for glass and glazing, ensuring compliance and peace of mind. We use high-quality, commercial-grade materials designed to resist impact and wear, keeping your premises safe without compromising on visual appeal.
